You name this dish. Puttu or Idli?????
Basically it is Puttu. Its always fun making puttu at my home, because I dont have a puttu maker. I always use idli mould to fulfill our puttu cravings.
Well, these are tapiocas, to which I added some chilli powder, layered it with coconut and steamed.
It takes more time to cook than regular puttu. Again, it depends on how finely you grate them. The finer you grate, lesser the time taken, and vise versa.
Ingredients
- Tapioca - 2 , grated
- Salt - according to taste
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
- Chilli powder - 2 tsp
- Oil - to grease the idli molds
- Freshly grated coconut - 3 tblspn
Method
- Grate the tapioca and squeeze out the excess water from it. Discard the excess water.
- Add salt, turmeric powder and chilli powder.
- Grease your idli molds. Start layering, fill with 1 tsp of grated coconut on each molds
- Then the tapioca
- Again some grated coconut.
- Steam it for 30 minutes in a slow flame. Check whether the tapiocas are cooked well and switch off the flame.
- Serve hot.
You can serve it with any coconut based curry. We simply had them with sugar and banana.
Perfect treat for tapioca lovers like me. :) :) :)
